The Haryana State Federation of Consumers’ Cooperative Wholesale Stores Ltd. popularly known as CONFED came into existence with a registration as a Cooperative Society in October 1966 under the Punjab Cooperative Societies Act, 1961.   The main object of the Confed was to co-ordinate and facilitate the working of the affiliated Cooperative Wholesale Consumer Stores and to assist in the promotion, organization and development of the Cooperative Wholesale Consumer Stores and with that end in view: –  

  1. To make bulk procurement of consumer goods from within the State and other States for sale and supply to affiliated societies and arrange for proper storage, packing, grading and transport of such goods.
  2. To function as Agent of Government and under-takings in public, private and Cooperative Sectors for the distribution of controlled and other consumer goods and to import consumer goods from abroad in suitable circumstances on behalf of affiliated societies and other Cooperatives.

In the beginning, Confed has been monitoring the business of its constituent Cooperative Consumer Stores and doing wholesale business for them till 1978-79 and when Public Distribution System was introduced by Government of India in the year 1979, Confed undertook to implement Public Distribution System the for the welfare of the poor sections of the society and to serve consumers. At present, this activities is continued.

The globalization and liberalization and consequently reform in India brought consumer business to a highly competitive environment from private player. Changed economic environment forced Confed to diversify its activities. This resulted in many changes in the business portfolio, services, business concepts and practices which necessitated diversification and transition of its retail activities to Procurement of foodgrains and Insurance. Now, Confed is proud to enter in procurement of foodgrains business that directly benefit and uplift the farming community on the one hand by procuring their produce on MSP of Govt. of India and continue its business of transportation of other essential commodities for the weaker section of society on subsidized rates under TPDS and for school going children under Mid-Day-Meal Scheme.

At present, the major activities of Confed are :-

  • State Wholesale Nominee for lifting and transportation of Wheat under TPDS for BPL/AAY families at door step of Fair Price Shops.
  • State Wholesale Nominee for Transportation and Handling of foodgrains (Wheat/Rice) from FCI Godowns to under Primary Schools Mid-Day-Meal Scheme.
  • State Wholesale Nominee for lifting and distribution of Levy sugar.
  • Supply of dietary items to Prison Department
  • Distribution of LPG through Six Gas Agencies at Bahadurgarh (IOC), Jagadhri (IOC), Jind (BP), Raipur Rani (IOC), Shahabad (BP) and Yamunanagar(IOC).
  • State Agency for procurement ,storage and preservation of Wheat, Bajra and Paddy.
  • General Insurance business as a Corporate Agent.

MISSION

To play a leading role in service of farmers by purchasing their produce on MSP and serve the consumer & poor/weaker section of the society under TPDS.

CONSTRUCTION OF CORPORATE OFFICE AT PANCHKULA:

Confed has been allotted Bay Site No. 19 & 20 in Sector-2, Panchkula. The possession of the said Bay site has been taken. The area of plot is 550 sq.mtr (41.50*13.23). The covered area is 13000 sq.ft The construction work at the site has begun. The estimated cost of construction of the building and interior decoration is Rs. 3.75 crore. Construction is likely to be completed by 30.9.2009.

COMPUTERISATION:

Confed has started computerization of its activities. Computer has been provided to all Confed Distt. Offices which will improve its working efficiency.
